Why Bali?
Clinic meets coconut palm – nursing internship in an island paradise
In February 2025, a dream came true for me: we opened our newest Travel4med location in Bali—and I got to be there from day one! As part of the team and also as a nursing intern, I experienced how everyday clinic life, culture, and vacation vibes can be perfectly combined on this island.
And because it was so wonderful, I went back again in July 2025 – this time with new groups, new encounters, and even more Bali vibes.
Even before I started studying medicine, I wanted to do an internship abroad in Bali – but back then, organizing it on my own was almost impossible. With Travel4med, this is now finally possible without any hassle. We take care of everything: from visas to villas, from airport transfers to certificates.
Accommodation & Surroundings
Villa feeling with pool, karaoke, and coconuts
Upon arrival, you will be taken directly to our spacious Travel4med villa in Ubud, where you will receive a warm welcome with snacks, a goodie bag, and a welcome drink. The villa is idyllically located in the middle of rice fields, with a 24-hour gym, a large supermarket, and plenty of cafés offering Travel4med discounts just across the street.
The rooms? Modern, cozy, and available for 2, 4, or 6 people. Plus: a pool, common rooms, yoga equipment, beanbags on the lawn, a BBQ area, and a karaoke system – everything you need for relaxing afternoons and convivial evenings.
Everyday life in a hospital
By bus to the operating room – Clinic in Balinese
Every morning after breakfast, we take the bus to the hospital together. There, you work in small groups on the wards—perfect for learning from the staff, but also from other students.
The atmosphere in the hospital is calm—typical of Bali—and that's exactly what makes learning so enjoyable. As a nursing intern, I was even allowed to go into the operating room and assist with a procedure. Of course, this was voluntary and with the full support of the medical staff, but it was definitely an experience of a lifetime.
What if there's not much going on? No problem—we have our own teaching room in the hospital, with practice materials and space to retreat.
Leisure, program & highlights
Yoga in the garden, BBQ with snakes, and surfing on the weekend
Back at the villa, we continue with the weekly program:
- Indonesian cooking class
- Bahasa Indonesia language course
- Yoga with a view of the countryside
- Making traditional offerings
- Teaching sessions on medical topics
Every two weeks there is a big BBQ – preceded by exciting "snake teaching," where you learn how to deal with snake bites in Bali. And that's with real snakes, which you can also touch under the supervision of snake experts.
And what else? You can explore waterfalls, visit temples, stroll through local markets, or simply relax by the pool. If you're more into sports, you can be at the beach in 30 minutes for a surfing lesson. Or for a lazy day at the beach club.
The weekend is for island hopping: Gili Islands, Nusa Penida, Lombok, Java, or Flores—the choice is huge. And best of all, thanks to the 60-day visa, you can easily extend your internship with a private vacation.
Support & Organization
One contact person – from booking to BBQ
I am your contact person for Bali – before, during, and after your trip. We will help you with everything: visas, flights, vaccinations, packing lists, planning. We are there for you on site – but never intrusive. You have space for yourself, but also always a sympathetic ear within the team. And we are definitely up for a karaoke session or two!
My conclusion
Nursing internship in flip-flops – Bali makes it possible
Bali was a project close to my heart—and today it has become a place that is truly dear to me. The mix of quiet everyday life at the clinic, dedicated teaching, Balinese serenity, and a lovingly designed weekly program is unique.
My tip: even if you "only" have two or three weeks, make the most of them! This internship is more than just an obligation – it's an experience that will stay with you. And who knows – maybe we'll see each other there again next July.
